The California Paraoptometric Section (CPS) is affiliated with the California Optometric Association and offers membership specifically to paraoptometric personnel.
What is its purpose?
The purpose of CPS is to promote the paraoptometric profession throughout the state by providing education, communication, fellowship, and community service.
Who are paraoptometrics?
Paraoptometrics are allied health personnel who extend the optometrist’s capabilities by assuming routine and technical aspects of vision care services. They may be optometric assistants, technicians, opticians, or office managers, receptionists or other staff in an optometrist’s office.
How is the CPS structured?
CPS is managed by a volunteer Leadership Board appointed by the Board of Trustees of the California Optometric Association.
How does the California Optometric Association benefit from the CPS?
Heightened paraoptometric attendance at COA sponsored events encourages vendors/exhibitors to support the professional association, because paraoptometrics frequently make buying decisions for many practices.
