Kimberley Pantel, ABOC, CPOT, OA

CPS Chair

khym@hotmail.com

Kim Pantel has been a paraoptometric since 1990 and was instrumental in organizing the Monterey Bay Paraoptometric Society, as well as serving as it's Chair. She is currently the Vision Therapist and Optician for the office of Allison Cao-Le, OD in Monterey, CA. She worked for Drs. Honnors, Marchionna, and Dela Pena for 15 years. Because that office is cross-trained, Kim gained valuable knowledge and an overview of the entire system of an optometric practice including patient pre-testing, frame selection, contact lens training, insurance billing, bookkeeping, payroll, frame inventory management, and staff training and management. Prior to leaving that office, Kim conducted an office systems review and created training manuals for all paraoptometric positions as well as oversight of the office manual. Kim is a Certified Paraoptometric Technician with the American Optometric Association, Certified Optometric Assistant with the Indiana College of Optometry, and Certified Optician with the American Board of Opticianry. She has served as Chair of CPS since 2004 with duties including board meetings, phone conferences, and conference booth attendance. Kim is also the paraoptometric liaison to the California Optometric Association Education Subcommittee for OptoWest and Monterey Symposium.

Brandi Krall

CPS Board Member

bkrall@scco.edu

Brandi Davis began her paraoptometric career in April 2006 as a front desk receptionist at the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO). She was promoted to the front office lead in March 2007 and currently works as the front office supervisor. Brandi gained most of her work experience through on-the-job training and through various onsite trainings during Clinic Development Days. She has also been to many classes and trainings such as The Essentials of Managing the Front Desk, Dealing with Difficult People, Motivating Staff, Making an Excellent First Impression, and Preventing Sexual Harassment for Supervisors. Brandi's favorite part of her job as a paraoptometric is the patients she comes in contact with on a daily basis. She decided to become a CPS Board Member because she thought it would be a great opportunity to share her knowledge and experience with others while also gaining more knowledge in the field. She also feels that she can contribute creative ideas for staff recognition programs. Brandi is certified in CPR and First Aide and also volunteers at the Special Olympics in Long Beach each year at the booth for vision screenings.
